SUMMARY:ORIGIN Tāmaki Makaurau | Aotearoa
DESCRIPTION:ORIGIN Tāmaki Makaurau | Aotearoa \nSunday 18 October 2026 \nDoors open: 6.30am\nEvent: 7.00am to 10.00am\nSynchronised global moment: 8.00am NZDT \nAkarana\, Ōkahu Bay\n8 to 10 Tāmaki Drive\, Ōrākei\, Auckland \n \nJoin us at Ōkahu Bay as Tāmaki Makaurau becomes part of ORIGIN\, a worldwide gathering connecting communities across the planet through ceremony\, music\, prayer\, movement and regenerative action. \nHere in Aotearoa\, our expression of ORIGIN begins with this whenua. \nWe will gather with the rising day at Akarana\, beside the wai of Ōkahu Bay\, for a morning grounded in whakapapa\, whenua\, wai\, mātauranga\, community and our relationship with te taiao. \nWe are deeply honoured to have tohunga Awhitia Mihaere and Manu Suganuma join us for the morning. \nAwhitia and Manu will open our gathering with karakia\, acknowledging and honouring our tīpuna\, grounding us in whakapapa\, whenua and the kaupapa that brings us together here at Ōkahu Bay. \nAwhitia is a tohunga ruahine\, traditional healer and teacher of rongoā Māori whose mātauranga was first nurtured alongside her grandmother. Her mahi is deeply woven through whakapapa\, rongoā\, whenua\, wairua and the remembering and revitalisation of ancestral knowledge. \nAwhitia is also part of the World Tribal Alliance and has gathered internationally alongside Indigenous Elders\, including in South Africa. \nManu brings Indigenous knowledge from Hawaiʻi and Aotearoa\, with foundations in Hawaiian martial and healing traditions\, plant medicine\, ancestral knowledge and rongoā Māori. \nTogether\, their presence connects our gathering here in Aotearoa with a much wider movement of Indigenous peoples\, Elders and communities coming together across the world in kotahitanga. \nThroughout the morning we will weave together karakia\, movement\, sound\, kōrero\, mātauranga\, rongoā and connection before joining the global ORIGIN gathering for the synchronised moment\, Universal Prayer and Anthem for Unity. \nThere will also be a space for koha\, allowing what we gather together to flow back into our whenua and our communities through local regenerative action. \nAt the heart of this gathering is something Indigenous peoples have always known. \nWe are not separate from nature\, we are a divine expression of her. \nOur wellbeing is woven into the wellbeing of our whenua\, our wai\, our communities\, our ancestors and the generations yet to come. \nORIGIN is an invitation to remember this together. \nTo honour Papatūānuku. \nTo honour our tīpuna. \nTo gather in community. \nAnd to turn our remembering into regenerative action. \nFrom our place here in Tāmaki Makaurau\, we will join communities gathering across the Earth with the same intention. \nCome as you are. Gather with us. Be part of something moving across the Earth. \nThis is a free community gathering. Registration is essential as places are limited. \nIf you can’t be with us in person\, you can still be part of ORIGIN from wherever you are. Gather at home\, with your whānau or your community\, and tune into the global live broadcast as people across the Earth come together in the same moment. \nWatch the ORIGIN Global Online Broadcast here: \nhttps://ourorigin.earth/origin-global-broadcast/ \n  \nHosted by Bridget Clare | The Remembering and Mārama Mai \nWith the generous support of Source Water and The Remembering. \nSource Water will be sharing some of their water with our community to enjoy on the morning. \nThe Remembering will also be present within the gathering\, with more to be shared as the morning continues to be woven together. \nORIGIN gatherings take place around the world on 17 October. Because of our place on the Earth and our timezone\, we gather here with the new day on the morning of 18 October\, connecting Aotearoa into the global live broadcast and synchronised moment. \nThere are still parts of our morning being woven together\, with more practitioners\, rongoā\, offerings and programme details to be shared as they are confirmed.
