Not for Profit Policy

As a charitable trust, the Akarana Marine Sports Charitable Trust was established to support and promote community engagement through sport, education, and recreation. 

While we do offer a discounted rate for note-for-profit groups, this is now reserved for organisations whose work directly aligns with our community focus, such as schools, sports clubs, and local community groups.

To clarify, there are generally two types of not-for-profit organisations:

• Community Not-for-Profit Organisations
  These are typically local groups focused on serving their immediate community — for example, schools, sports clubs, youth programmes, or charities that provide direct community benefit.

• Business or Industry Not-for-Profit Organisations
  These are usually professional or trade associations that represent a specific sector or industry, often operating at a regional or national level. While they also operate on a not-for-profit basis, their purpose is generally to support their members and advance their field, rather than providing direct community services.

Our NFP discount applies to the first group — community-based organisations — as their work most closely aligns with our charitable purpose.
