Today, Akarana was proud to host the official launch of the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season, welcoming players, leaders and media to Ōkahu Bay to mark a major milestone — 30 years of Super Rugby.
Set against the sparkling Waitematā Harbour, the launch brought together representatives from all 11 Super Rugby Pacific clubs, with players past and present gathering to officially kick off the celebrations. It was a powerful moment of reflection and anticipation, celebrating three decades of world-class rugby while looking ahead to the future of the game across the Pacific.
Among those in attendance were Patrick Tuipulotu (Blues), Patrick Pellegrini (Moana Pasifika), Tom Wright (ACT Brumbies), Manasa Mataele (Fijian Drua), Du’Plessis Kirifi (Hurricanes), Nic Dolly (Western Force), Codie Taylor (Crusaders), Fraser McReight (Queensland Reds), Wallace Sititi (Chiefs), Eamon Doyle (NSW Waratahs) and Fabian Holland (Highlanders), each representing the strength and diversity of the competition.
Super Rugby Pacific CEO Jack Mesley highlighted the significance of the occasion, noting that 2026 marks 30 years since Super Rugby first transformed the professional game. The launch was an opportunity to celebrate that history while setting the tone for the next chapter.
